I am speaking with a recruiter for the Marine Corp reserves and he only mentions SAW gunner and assaultman. How does a anti terrorism battalion operate? What other jobs are possible and are they regular infantry jobs or are they an infantry defense like protecting an embassy and other bases? Any body that was in the Marines please answer this only so I know you know what your talking about. Thanks.

Recruiters are famous for blowing smoke up butts. He is looking for grunts, no matter what you call it your still infantry. The Marine Corps has just about all of the technical jobs as the other branches of the military. Think of what you are interested in doing the rest of your life and enlist for that training. However, if your 10 foot tall and bullet proof sign up to be a 0311, basic infantryman, go out and kill things. OORAH

I’m a former Marine and let me tell you, Marine recruiters go to school to learn how to lie to you without lying. If he’s talking about SAW gunner and assaultman he’s talking about making you a grunt. Now, while thats a respectable position and the backbone of the Corps, it’s also a good way to end up dead. You’re in the front lines. You ARE the front lines. If you want to do embassy security you have to join the Marine Corps Security Forces. It’s a nice duty (I did it), but after 3 years you’re sent to a grunt unit to finish up your last year. There’s no such thing as an anti-terrorism battalion. Do yourself a favor and go in to learn about computers. You’ll get either a secret or a top secret clearance and then you’re set for life. (secret clearance in civilian world you start off about 70-80k a year)
