If obey the messenger means not the Quran how are you Muslim?

If a Muslim is one whom submits to God. Where is the give in authority to another book aside from Quran labeled as a Prophet’s Sunnah when clearly the Quran says there is only 1 Sunnah Allah’s?

    @Ibrahim God forgive you sir!
please put the ayah in its entirety..How dare you deface God’s ayahs.
59:7-Whatever God bestowed upon His messenger from the people of the towns, then it shall be to God and His messenger, and the relatives, and the orphans, and the poor, and the wayfarer. Thus, it will not remain monopolized by the rich among you. And you may take what the messenger gives you, but do not take what he prohibits you from taking. And be aware of God, for God is mighty in retribution.
@she where does it say follow Prophets Sunnah? if the Prophet was alive yes he is an example and better yet a leader to us. But he is dead now and was when those other books that you submit too were written. Do you not see that they were not authorized by God or the Prophet?

    Bismillah

    Dear Asker.
Obey and Follow Messenger Muhammad (pbuh) equates to obey Allah & Quran. :)

"And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, leave it. And fear Allah: truly Allah is severe in punishment. " [Qur'an 59:7]

By following the sunnah you are following the quraan, they do not contradict each other, they complete each other.

Please take the time to read this: http://www.al-islami.com/islam/history_of_sunnah.php

    ______
i sincerely apologize, but that did not put the segment i quoted out of context,

and the translation you are using is weak, the words used in the quran are :

both the verbs (فَخُذُوهُ, fakhuthouh, take it) and (فَٱنتَهُواْ‌ۚ , faintahu, abstain) are in order form, using "may" in the translation is incorrect… don’t depend on one source only.

Dear Bella, it is difficult to preach the right thing.

During the time of Moses, so many prophets were killed. Why? the Top Rabbis would not want to lose their followers, pride & power!

No Torah in their way. It has to be Talmud & hadiths of their ancestors! And the Muslims are no different with our Imams’ Hadiths.

    Thank God it’s Friday!

To Obey the messenger does not mean ”not the Quran”. I am a slave of ALLAH a submitter to HIS will. I do not worship the messenger of God but as God instructed me to do I obey the Prophet. Its clear, very very clear you dont get what obeying and following the Messenger means, there is no point in talking to deaf ears. I obey the Quran and I follow the Sunnah all Muslims are to do that , that does not mean you can label me SUNNI. I am a Muslim its not proceeded with any other word.

    EDIT
We are to follow the Prophets example of how he lived his life that is what the SUNNAH IS! We get it, you dont get it, Good luck with your ”Quranism” on Judgment day….

Peace! Over and OUT….Done answering you 100%

Al Quran is the word of Allah. It is like school or college course curriculum. We need a teacher to teach us the details of the book. Hence Prophet’s Sunnah is the practical aspect of living life according to Holy Quran

What is Sunnah? it is a new book? is it a new law?
    wats is it?

sunnah is the living interpretation of the Qur’an by Prophet Muhammad (saas), the possessor of great moral values who had such great consideration for believers that he would become distressed when they were troubled and would relieve them of their burdens and chains of bigotry.

The Qur’an cannot be understood and implemented in one’s life without the Sunnah.
For example, in the Qur’an Allah tells believers to be affectionate toward each other, speak good words, and behave modestly. Commanding the right, forbidding the wrong, communicating the moral values of Islam to all humanity are set out as obligatory duties (fara’id). Cleanliness has been made obligatory. However, such matters are explained in the Qur’an in certain ways. Believers learn about the examples how to actually implement all these commands in their lives by means of the practices of the Prophet (saas).

You should accept whatever the Messenger gives you and abandon whatever he tells you to abandon. Have taqwa of Allah… (Surat al-Hashr: 7)

When Allah and His Messenger have decided something, no believing man or woman has a choice about [following or not following] it. Anyone who disobeys Allah and His Messenger is clearly misguided. (Surat al-Ahzab: 36)
