Somalis march against militants

Hundreds of Somalis have marched through the streets of Mogadishu, protesting against al-Shabab militants. The protesters, mostly women and children and wearing traditional white clothes, chanted slogans denouncing the al-Qaeda-inspired group. New Israeli air strike hits Gaza

At least 11 people have been injured by Israeli air strikes targeting Gaza’s airport, Palestinian officials say. The Israeli military confirmed the missile strikes near Rafah, in southern Gaza, which it said targeted militants. It was the second night of Israeli raids since a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip killed a worker on an Israeli farm on Thursday.

Omagh bomb new inquiry call

MPs have said a new investigation must be set up to examine whether the state withheld vital intelligence from detectives hunting the Omagh bombers. The NI Affairs Committee said too many questions remained unanswered over how much the security services knew about the killers’ movements at the time. Twenty-nine people, including a mother pregnant with twins, died in the Real IRA attack on 15 August 1998.
