Salam w Alaikum and may Allah swt shed His eternal blessings upon you and your family inshaAllah.
The way I memorized many of the Surah’s I know is by breaking them up in my head (in sentences) and then repeating them – also you can try writing the Surah’s/Aya’s down so that you can look at them to get a picture in your mind inshaAllah.
Also listen to the Surah being recited over and over as much as you like until it sticks.

May Allah swt make it easier on you inshaAllah

    Ok, go on quranexplorer.com
it is the best site for pursuing your goal of memerizing the Quran.
also you have to practive and recite to someone.
you cant just recite to yourself. You need to practice and memerize everyday so you dont forget. .
get a chart and put how many mistakes . read all you know from the quran in one week so you wont forget it and divide the chapters.
    good luck. =)

Ms Johnson noone asked for your opinion…..

Anyhow, the way I do it is: split it up into reasonable sized parts, and keep reading it over and over again (I have trouble with the reading part cuz i pronounce stuff wrong so it takes me a bit longer to get it right), then go do something else, then come back to it, read it a bit more, and then try to recite it without reading it, and when you get stuck read it, till you remember it.. it usually takes me a whole afternoon, then by night time ive got it memorised… Sometimes in the morning I can remember it perfectly, and other times I forget it, but after reading it a few more times it usually sticks and I don’t forget it.

Ooo and I read it out loud… re-writting stuff doesnt help me memorise but it helps a lot of the people I know

Offcourse you always memorize Quran in Arabic ! Thats what Quran is in.

The best and shortest way, if you are aspiring to be a complete Hafiz, is to discontinue any other academic engagement, business, and all other major activities, and sit in some mosque with a teacher.

You will need to spend full time there, 8-10 hours a day (with breaks offcourse), and follow the daily lessons with the teacher. He will determine with your performance how much you can memorize each day. You will be required to recite to your teacher every day:

    1. The daily lesson (half page, 1, or more)
    2. Cumulative thus far of the Part (1 of the 30) that you are memorizing.
    3. Manzil: Other Parts that you have fully memorized one by one each day, or 2 or 3… according to your memory and strength.

Following this systematic procedure is the most effective and most common for becoming a Hafiz. It takes on average 1.5 – 2 years. Check around with your local mosque if they hold classes for Hifz.

    Read, read and read.
You can also listen to recitations of the Holy Quran and that makes it a lot easier for you to remember it.

    This is a great website.

    :-) very good question indeed

    let me humbly participate ok..
    1. please understand that it is Allah who teach us His word, and only He.

so the basic way is to make the intention only for Him and ask Him to fill our heart with His words, and reduce our sin.

    2. try to understand the message
read the whole quran a few times. and apply it
for non-arabs: +learn the meaning, some common words/particles, basic grammar, tajweed.

    3. the collecting
one can use what fits or all: audio – visual – kinetics
repetion, connecting the verses etc. don’t force it, let it flows, enjoy the process – for it is ibadah.

    4. preserving what has been acquired
using in shalat, teach to other, etc

may Allah chose you and us as Guardian of His word. ameen
